In the hustle and bustle of of the morning the one thing that I dread is making lunch. I was secretly hoping that Eph would love buying lunch in the school cafeteria and I would only have to pack two lunches per day. With Lu’s food allergies it is necessary to pack food everywhere we go and to save money, I always try to bring my lunch to work. Unfortunately, I have a child that actually likes a good quality meal and after buying twice decided that he only wants to buy lunch on the pizza days. These are just some of the reason that I was so excited to review the Easy Lunchboxes system.
Beyond the standard green living no waste benefits, the Easy Lunchboxes system is considered SAFE for food products. Click on the link to read all the details about the rigorous testing of their products. The plastic is BPA, PVC, phthalate, lead and vinyl free. The products are microwavable and dishwasher safe as well.
For the review Kelly sent me a pack of the compartmentalized containers and let me choose the color of my cooler. The insulated lunch bag comes in 5 different colors: Black, Dark Red, Olive, Purple and Aqua. Of course, being in Buckeye land, I chose the dark red.
One of the best things about the the compartmentalized containers is the tops have a rigged groove for each of the three sections which helps control leaking between compartments, as long as you carry the container upright, as recommended on their website. You can see here that I sent carrots with ranch dressing to school that day. And just to give it a good test, I did a really hard shake and there wasn’t any sort of leak from the dressing into the carrots or sandwich. Also, Eph had no problem getting the lid on and off of his lunch [which is a problem with some of our other containers.]
The cooler is a nice size and fits the compartmentalize containers perfectly. For this lunch, I was also able to add a small freezer pack, chocolate milk and oranges. Or if you are needing to pack more than one lunch, you can fit two of the compartmentalized containers into one insulated bag. This would be perfect for a trip to the park or zoo.
If you are anything like me, you are always searching for something different to put in your kids lunchbox. One of my favorite parts of their website is a section called “neat ideas“. I particularly l like the gallery of yummy lunches picture album. There are over 60 real life examples of easy to pack lunches. It was great to look through with Eph because he could just point and tell me what he might like to try.
Lastly, one of my favorite features is the sturdy metal grommet located in the strap of the cooler pack. As a parent of a child with food allergies, I constantly find myself marking her food containers with dietary restrictions. I plan to make and laminate a food warning label for the bag. That way if we happen to be out and about, her food is always clearly marked. You could also let your child put a fun key ring or other flair on the bag to personalize it more.
Overall we have nothing but praises for the super fast, quick to pack, Easy Lunchboxes containers and insulated pack. If you are in the search of a great lunchbox you can buy one here for $21.90.
Easy Lunchboxes is giving one of my lucky readers an opportunity to win their very own insulated bag (color of choice) and set of 4 containers.
