Hi, I’m Melanie.

I’m a Florida-based sign language interpreter, lifelong learner, and someone who has spent most of her life being curious about… well, everything. These days, I’m back in the Sunshine State after many years away, settling into a midlife chapter that feels both grounded and wide open.

I live in Saint Augustine, where life tends to revolve around water, Old Bay shrimp, the occasional beach day escape, and a steady rotation of new interests (mahjong is the current learning curve).

I started blogging back in 2009 as a creative outlet for all the things I was learning, researching, and enthusiastically sharing with anyone who would listen. That hasn’t really changed—I’ve just grown into a different season of life while doing it.

In my everyday world, I work in sign language interpreting, a career I genuinely love and that keeps me connected, learning, and constantly growing.

I’m also a mom through birth and adoption, and those stories are part of the foundation of who I am and how I see the world.

This space—what I now think of as Midlife and More—is a continuation of that journey. It’s about everyday life, books, learning new things, finding joy in small moments, and navigating this season with honesty, humor, and curiosity.

Because I’ve learned life is better when you share the story as you’re living it.
