This past month I was offered the opportunity to review the Ascenta Health NutraSea Kids 200ml Omega 3 & Omega 6 blends supplement. Finding a yummy tasting fish oil liquid that my son will drink, not to mention that is healthy and safe from toxins, is not an easy task and believe me we have been through our share of products.
When my son was around 3 years old, we began to notice the he was not quite like all the other children. He was extremely busy, had trouble during typical transitions and was extremely sensitive to certain textures and noises. I have to be honest, we originally had concerns that he was going to be diagnosed with autism. We had him tested through the local autism clinic and they diagnosed him with Sensory Integration Disorder – Sensory Seeking. Since then his diagnosis has been adjusted to the more common ADHD, even though we still see a lot of the sensory issues, he is a very classic ADHD boy.
In our quest to look at natural ways to treat him we found a wonderful pediatrician that looks at the whole child in includes both traditional and integrative approaches. One of the very first supplements that she put him on was an Omega 3-DHA to support brain development. Volumes of research is being produced about the importance of this fatty acid and the crucial role that it plays in early brain development.
Now, we have tried a myriad of Omega based “vitamins” [as we call them in our house]. We have tried gummies, and gel caps, liquids and ones that were shaped like Swedish fish but the products that provide the best results for us are those that come in a true liquid form.
One of the things that I liked most about NutraSea Kids by Ascenta is their willingness to distribute the Pure Check report for each of their products. My bottle came with a complete consumer report [click here for a sample NutraSea Kids Pure Check report] regarding the product. I was very impressed that all of claims either met or exceeded what was printed on the label. The Pure Check report also showed the results of tests done for lead, cadmium, mercury and inorganic arsenic – all of which were 0.00! On each bottle a unique “lot” number is printed. You can simply go the website and search for the Pure Check report for your product.
I also want to include some vital information directly from Ascenta:
“NutraSea Kids includes vitamin D and is rich in important EPA and DHA omega-3 essential fatty acids along with GLA omega-6 fatty acid which, when combined with EPA, can play a crucial role in early childhood development. Research has shown omega-3 and -6 to be beneficial for concentration and behavior, improved mood and ADHD in children, all benefits that contribute to a smooth transition back to school (supplements take varying amounts of time before results are evident. The best way to ensure maximum effectiveness is to take the proper daily dose consistently).”
Well, OK, so all that sounds wonderful but does it pass the Eph test? Can I convince my 5 year old that this vital brain food might actually taste good? This is an unrehearsed, one take video of Eph’s first cup of the NutraSea Kids supplement:
And a picture of sweet Lu Lu enjoying her own cup as well.
That is drool on her shirt not the NutraSea Kids:) |
Verdict? This stuff tastes great and I highly recommend it for your entire family. They even have an line of supplements for your pet.
You can buy it at various online drug stores for $21.00 (although I found it as low as $15.51 on sale).
