Before my sweet daughter was born, I had put on a few pounds and because of pregnancy complications I was on bed rest or physical limitations for the majority of my pregnancy. I didn’t gain a ton, but I definitely was over weight. In the first year after her birth I lost almost 80lbs and this past January I joined the running club at my local YMCA.
I have some experience running but I was very out of shape. Since it was winter, we started out on the treadmill and by spring I was able to run 2 miles without stopping. I finished my first 5k in April and then for the past 8 months have been training to participate with some of my Florida girls in the Women’s Half Marathon in St. Petersburg, Florida.
At the Starting Line |
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would ever be able to say that I finished 13.1 miles but this past weekend – I DID IT! Our small but determined group finished in 3 hours and 31 minutes and now we have our eyes set on the Diva’s Half Marathon next November.

There is nothing that can’t be done when you have your sister friends standing by your side! We walked in unison, we cheered each other on, and we celebrated a great accomplishment together!

What a great idea to track your times and runs so you can see how much progress there is.
