God Gave Us The World
by Lisa Tawn Bergen, Art By Laura J. BryantI have always seen the other “God Gave Us” books but we have never been so fortunate to have one. This book was a great blessing and is the perfect way to discuss how each of us are specially made according to God’s wonderful plan.
The story begins with a family of Polar Bears off to the museum for the “Bears Around the World” exhibit. The art work is adorable and reminded us of the exhibits at the Natural History Museum. Little Cub has a zillion questions about why God made all different kinds of bears. The book covers differences in appearance, habits and food of the various bear groups and Little Cub just can’t understand why God made so many different types of bears. Mama Bear spends her time explaining to Little Cub about how, “every bear has a special place in God’s great BIG world.” Mama Bear also talks about God’s desire to create and our responsibility to care for His creation. The book is beautifully illustrated. Lu and Eph got a kick out of the super long tongues of the sloth bears and they had fun stretching their tongues out.
Eph & Lu both enjoyed the book. Of course being 2, Lu mostly just liked the bears but it opened a discussion for Eph and I about how people are different too. We talked about people of different colors and how they eat things and live in ways that are different than ours. This is something that he is always very curious about, mostly because the area we live in is not very diverse.
The book does a wonderful job of sharing God’s message of creation and love. You can purchase the book from any major book seller. Retail price is $10.99
