My body has deceived me. I have been fooled by it’s miraculous weight loss and tricked into believing that I can eat/drink anything that my little heart desires. I know that this is not right, that in some ways it is even sinful but I can’t stop myself.
You see, I was tricked by my restrictive diet while I was breastfeeding that corresponded with my decision to take on running as a hobby. After we weaned I was able to keep that weight off (60 pounds and that was NOT baby weight) because we were still eating a dairy, soy, egg free diet at home and I was running like a mad women into the discount store on Black Friday.
During that first year after weaning, I trained for my first half marathon (and completed it) and I ran like a little mouse on a treadmill during the winter time to prepare for a 10 miler that I ran this past April. After that accomplishment is where it all went to hell in a hand basket.
In May, after more than a year of trying to conceive through infertility treatments, we became pregnant with twins. At that time I was told to limit my exercise and not to run. Plus I was taking mega doses of progesterone which is really no different than popping steroids. Unfortunately the babies didn’t make it (you can read about that here) and well, I have pretty much been in slump since then.
That was until Monday, when I went to the doctor and I found out that I now weigh 150lbs. I have gained 10lbs since May and that is NOT alright with me. I really needed some motivation and when I saw this post by I’m Not a Lazy Mom – I thought ‘Oh, Yeah, this is exactly what I need to get me started.’
So, Stacey is challenging all of us to not eat fast food for the entire month of October. You can read her post here. By fast food she means anything with a drive through window. There are some discussions about what exactly counts or not, but in the end it is your decision. She has a linky that you can add your name to. So join us…and pledge not to eat fast food during the whole month of October! Let’s get healthy and stop letting our bodies trick us into thinking that we can afford to eat that stuff 🙂

I have stayed away from fast food for the past 3 months. I only have 4 more pounds to lose, so I’m ready to sign up for this challenge. 🙂
