When I was selected on as a Heelys Ambassador, I couldn’t believe it. I know it’s crazy but I had always wanted to done a pair of Heelys and give them a spin. I mean I was a mad roller skater at one point in my life and even now can spin around and skate backwards. Not too bad for a Mom if you ask me.
My purple & black Heelys arrived and had super easy directions on how to install the snap in wheels. They are uber cool and I even thought about try to wear them around my office but nixed the idea after picturing myself getting written up for “wearing skates.”
Fortunately for all of you, I had my husband videotape one of my escapades for your viewing enjoyment. Try not to laugh to hard.
Mr. Sunshine Praises and I wear almost the same size shoe and deep down he had secretly been praying to get the chance to try out the Heelys too. So after recovering from laughing so hard at me, he put on my pretty purple skates and gave them a spin. It took him about four decent attempts but by the time we shot this video, well, he was doing better than me. [Don’t mind the dog, he was very confused by strange movements.]
Overall, the Heelys have been super fun for the whole family. They are extremely durable and comfortable. Even though it was not as easy to learn as I would have liked, watching the skating 101 videos were a definitely a big help. I am particularly supportive of the Responsible Skating agreement for parents to use with their children.
Of course, my little one is begging for his own pair of Heelys. He will have to wait until Christmas to see if Santa brings him his own pair but if this Mom has any input, I expect he will be a happy boy on Christmas morning.
