Well, this has been a little underwhelming for me because I am a BIG cheat. Seriously, how hard is it not to eat fast food for one month. NOT EASY, when your husband and friends are all fast food addicts and they evil tempters with their delicious greasy fries and hamburgers.
No, seriously. I haven’t cheated as much as I wanted to but the first week has definitely been a challenge for me. I never realized how much I depend on convenience food to get me through the day. It is pathetic especially since I view myself as being more crunchy.
So, what were my lessons of the week? Pack more food and snacks for the car. We live about 10 minutes outside of town. Once we get to town, we hate going back, so we will often grab a meal in between activities. Usually it is something like Bob Evans but often it is fast food. If I kept snacks and drinks in the car, I would be less likely to want to drive through and get something for myself or the kids.
Confessions of the week: I ate a lot of unhealthy stuff that wasn’t technically fast food and justified it by saying there was no drive through window.
- Sunday we ate at Skyline Chili (which does have a drive through window #fail) because we were in a hurry to get somewhere and I figured chili spaghetti was better than traditional fast food.
- Tuesday we ordered Chinese at work. (Is that Fast Food?)
- Thursday I ran to Qudoba but I got soup. (I think I get a pass here)
- Friday, I ate an Egg McMuffin because I was starving and forgot to pack something to eat after my fasting blood work at 10:00am and was in a hurry to meet a friend.
- Friday night we ordered pizza because I was too lazy to cook something and wanted to enjoy the outside.
- Saturday we had Chipotle for lunch. No reason. Just wanted it.
Beyond the obscene amount of money we spend eating out as a family of 4, we need to be more healthy. I love how this challenge is pointing out how I gained those 10 pounds!
Now on to week #2 and I am starting it off with the Get Your Rear in Gear 5k in honor of my Mom who is battling colon cancer.
How did your first week go??

We went to the apple orchard and then ran some errands and needed to eat but didn’t have a lot of time. We stopped at B-Bops and my friend and I got grilled chicken sandwiches and the girls got sloppy joes. It came with fries, but we split 2 orders between us and 3 kids. I started the last week of September and that was the only cheat so far. I’m really surprised we haven’t hit Subway in the past few weeks– That is our main addiction.

Oh man! I got a chicken salad at Chipotle the other day. I totally forgot that was fast food.
