Party Praise: Leap Frog Learn, Create & Share Party

October 20, 2011 By Melanie

This past Friday was early release day from school and a perfect day to have a Leap Frog “Learn, Create, Share!” party.  My kids had been begging to get into the party box for more than a week. They desperately wanted to play with the LeapPad learning tablet, the new Tag Reading System and the Interactive World Map. Needless to say, they were not the least bit disappointed.

We held our party open house style with parents stopping by to let their kids play with the LeapPad Explorer and Tag Reading System. This turned out to be an excellent way to have the party as each child had ample opportunity to investigate all of the new Leap Frog educational toys and parents were able to sit with their children and really see what they enjoyed about the products.

One Mom mentioned that she was pleased to see that the new Tag Reading System is able to hold 10 books instead of the previous 5 and she really liked the Interactive Map.  Her son is in 1st grade and they have recently introduced maps to his class. The Interactive World Map works with the Tag Reading System and includes various games and activities to help your child not only learn mapping skills but also language and culture.

Most of the kids at the party had plenty of experience with Tag system so the hit product at the party was definitely the new LeapPad tablet. This brand new product offers endless hours of educational entertainment through cartridge games, apps, digital books, videos, flash cards and more. The great thing about this product is that it is completely kid-friendly. You can touch the screen, use the stylus and you can even twist & turn it for motion based play.

Even though the LeapPad is recommended for ages 4-9, my 2 (almost 3) year old absolutely loved the Roly Poly app which uses the motion sensors to roll, spin, tilt and steer the roly poly around collecting fruit.  She also loves the Art Studio app and quickly learned how to change colors, draw, erase and use the stickers.

Our friend’s 4 year old was clearly the most enamored with the LeapPad. She played with it for hours, easily learned how to switch between apps, books and games. I am pretty certain that her parents know what Santa is bringing this year.

Here is a video of the a some of the kids using the Interactive Map:

After a few days of being able to play with the LeapPad, my son has declared that he likes the LeapPad, “more than his ** [handheld game device]” Even tonight, as we were leaving the Y, he begged to be able to play for a few minutes before bed and I pretty much had to threaten him to get him to put it down.

Our 7 party testers and their parents had a great time at the “Learn, Create, Share!” Open House Party. You can find out more about about all the great products mentioned above as well as many more by visiting the Leap Frog website, liking them on Facebook or following them on Twitter.
