For the past year I have been running a series called “Faith through Cancer” on my blog. There are only a few posts but each one has been a challenge to write. You see, My mom has cancer and I have spent the past year learning to accept the overwhelming fact that my mother is very sick and unlikely to ever make a full recovery.
Now, I know that October is breast cancer awareness month and my mom has colon cancer but in my world cancer is cancer. All kinds, all types, all stages, it doesn’t matter. Cancer is Cancer and we need to find a cure!
During the month of October, General Mills will donate $1 to the Komen organization for each Message of Hope that is shared on the Pink Together website. This is in addition to the $2 million donation they are already making.
This year, for the first time ever, the Pink Together consumers can help choose how $1 million of the donation will be shared between two Komen programs: the Treatment and Assistance Program, which assists women in securing care they otherwise may not be able to afford, and Prevention Research, which helps unlock the keys to preventing breast cancer. Visit PinkTogether.com from September 19, 2011 through April 14, 2012 to make your choice. Results will be announced on Mother´s Day 2012 – Sunday, May 13, 2012
General Mills will also be turning the packaging of participating products pink in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. Make sure you pick up some of these great products and support Cancer Awareness.

My aunt had a lump a few years ago. And now my mom is going in for her 2nd biopsy. She keeps having lumps. She is so worried, and so am I. I was 15 when I had to have my first mammogram for what turned out to be cysts. I hope they find a cure soon!

I voted for Prevention Research. I wish to stop this cancer in its tracks before it starts!

My co-worker passed away from Breast Cancer earlier this year. Hopefully with all the money that is raised each year during the month of October and throughout the year, they can find a cure for cancer.
