In a community (and church) where homeschooling is more common than sending your children to public school, I am thankful for the fantastic school that my son attends. For the past 5 years, our school has received the highest Ohio ranking of Excellence of Distinction.
Last night, I had an excellent parent-teacher conference. In his teacher’s comments and face, you could see how much she truly cared for him and his success in her class. She spoke warmly about both his academic and social development.
Then as I was leaving there, I bumped into the principal (who was holding a broom – doesn’t that speak millions?) and he stopped to ask me how my conference was and how “Eph” was doing. Not only does he know my child’s name, he knows that he belongs to me. He told me that he loves to step into the Eph’s class because he always beams a huge smile and says hello at him. If you could have seen me, you would have caught me beaming ear to ear in pride for my little boy.
Isn’t that just amazing? Very rarely do people have such great experiences in public schools. I know our school is special and that I why today, I give thanks for all the wonderful teachers, staff and administrators at our school.

I love this post because we have the same sort of homechooling/public schooling ratio here. We love our children’s school and I am thankful that we both have jobs to cover our bills and living expenses. What a blessing that Eph is in such a wonderful school!
