The past few posts have been a little heavy. I thought I would lighten it up by giving thanks for one of my absolutely favorite treats – Sweet Tea. Well, treat might not be the best word to describe my addiction. I love sweet tea. I have always loved it. I do not remember a time in my life where a large glass jar of sweet tea didn’t make me a happy girl.
Once I moved up north and out of the sweet tea zone, I had to settle for the occasional desperate trip to Cracker Barrel or Chick-Fila. I would dream about going to Sonny’s BBQ and getting one of those cups so big it should have a small diving board attached full of that sweet liquid gold.
Then a few years ago, something amazing happened. McDonalds, all over the U.S. started selling $1 sweet teas and soon after, every restaurant in Ohio began to brew sweet tea. It was like heaven had come to earth.
Now, I am not talking about some silly syrup, machine tea. NOPE. that is absolutely sinful. It has to be fresh brewed with real white sugar. (yes the bad for you kind). Make it yourself, order it half-cut, bring it for a friend. It doesn’t matter to me. Just enjoy yourself a sweet tea.
And you may also enjoy this phenominal Ode’ to Sweet Tea video by Anita Renfroe. I am assuming that I can post it, since it is marked as public and has an embed option…if not, I apologize Anita, it’s just you sum up my feelings so perfectly.
