Praise & Giveaway: The New BK Crown Kids Program ($25 Gift Card)

December 6, 2011 By Melanie

If you have been reading the news, you know that fast food companies are under attack for putting toys into kid’s meals. Already in one major US city, a law has been invoked prohibiting toys to be given in meals that do not meet a certain dietary guideline.

Now, my family and I try to be as healthy as possible when it comes to what we eat, but I would be lying if I told you that I don’t use the special kids meal bribe as an occasional treat to get my kids to do something that they really don’t want to do. Let’s face it, some of the first words they ever read were the logos of familiar drive through restaurants.

Knowing that parents are getting picker about what they feed their kids, Burger King recently announced that they were changing their BK Crown Kids Meal.  The new BK Crown program is built to inspire every kids imagination in hopes of bringing families together to enjoy mealtime.

The new BK Crown program includes:

  • The BK CROWNTM/MC Program comes in a fully interactive Kids Meal box. Sitting atop each box is a newly redesigned BURGER KING® crown, because every kid deserves to be treated like royalty at BURGER KING®! With crowns on their heads, kids can dive into the box, taking it apart, playing fun games and activities that challenge their minds, inspire their imagination and engage with the whole family.
  • With the BK CROWNTM/MC Program, Burger King Corporation invites kids to tell BURGER KING® what matters to them most. BKC has established a fund to help support the Wildlife Conservation Society, National Parks Conservation Association, DonorsChoose.org and Have It Your Way™ Foundation. By visiting BKCrown.com, kids learn how BKC’s charitable partners make a difference. Upon entering BK CROWNTM/MC Codes and clicking on their favorite cause, each kid’s vote helps BK® choose which charity to give back to.
  • The fun doesn’t end at the restaurant; the BK CROWNTM/MC Program experience lives on at www.BKCrown.com where kids can place their vote for how BKC should give back, as well as find more games, win prizes and enjoy interactive play.
  • Also at BURGER KING®, for just $9.99 your family can enjoy the “BK™ Family Bundle” which includes a WHOPPER® sandwich, WHOPPER JR.® sandwich., two small fries, two small soft drinks and a Kids Meal. Now that’s a deal worth getting together for! Limited time only. Price and participation vary. Prices higher in HI.

Our Review:

This past Sunday, the family and I headed out to Burger King for our after church lunch. This was a HUGE treat for my kids because we normally go to a sit down restaurant. It was also a treat because we rarely visit Burger King because the one near our home is older and not as nice as some of the other fast food restaurants around.

When we got to BK, the kids placed their order. They both got chicken nuggets, soda and french fries. For some reason I thought the kids meal included both apples and fries but we only got fries. The kids were really excited to put on their crowns and I even got to wear one for a short time. The kids had fun checking out their boxes, eating their lunch and playing with their toys. They were a little disappointed that they did not receive the Happy Feet toys that were in the display case. All in all though, the kids really seemed to enjoy the new BK kids meal.

As a parent I am happy to see that Burger King is doing it’s part to make their kids meals well rounded and to encourage families to eat meals together. I was very impressed with the BK website and all the information it offered for parents including nutritional information, educational features and online safety features.

Find out more about the new BK Program on their website, Facebook page or Twitter.
