Praise & Giveaway: Stanley Steamer

We live in a very small, humble home. We have very little space and our couches get an extra amount of use. Between the dogs and the kids there little hope for us to keep those couches clean and even though we have a our own personal steam vacuum, it doesn’t do as great a job as a professional cleaning.

I am going to be really honest with you ladies. My couches can get kind of grungy and smelly. Wet dog, spilled milk, the occasional potty accident. I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t a little repulsed by them at times. (I told you I was getting honest). Needless to say, I love to get them professionally cleaned and deodorized.

Because of my full time work schedule and my location “way out in the country”, I had a hard time scheduling my cleaning with Stanley Steamer. So, when someone asks my kids what they did on their first day of summer break, they will tell you that they waited for the man to come clean the couches. Hey, who needs a trip to the zoo or pool when they watch the Stanley Steamer truck do it’s magic.

When I first called our local franchise, the owner was overly friendly. He was able to pull up my history and tell me that the last time they had been out to my house was in 2009 to clean the couches. I did tell him that I had a gift certificate and that I wanted both my couch and recliner cleaned.

I received a reminder call over the weekend and then a “the guys are on their way” call that morning. Our window for arrival was between 9:00 and 12:00 and the truck arrived a little before 11:00.

The two Stanley Steamer representatives were dressed very nicely in khaki’s and black logo shirts. Of course they were driving the famous yellow truck. They both entered the home, introduced themselves, said hello to the dog and got straight to work. Plus they showed me my invoice and didn’t try to up sell me on additional services. I was completely at ease with their professionalism and demeanor.

Marcus and Jonathon did a great job. Since I didn’t tell them that I was going to be writing a post about their work, I didn’t feel right snapping pictures of them while they were working. I thought they would probably think that was a little strange. When they were done and we were closing out the invoice, Marcus called his boss because he had “never seen a gift certificate” like the one I had and it said “marketing” on it. Once I explained how and why I received the certificate, he joked, “maybe we should get back in there and do it again.”

Without knowing that I was a secret shopper they took their time and really wanted me to be happy with their services. They got into the foot stools, the couch crevices, and the back. They were even able to get out some permanent marker that Lu had used on the back and side of the couch. The difference truly is amazing. Now, I don’t have to be scared of what is lurking in the sofa just waiting to make us sick.
