I am excited for today’s review on alternaVites for Kids. These are a great alternative to other children’s vitamins that are full of dyes, artificial sweeteners and can be difficult for little ones to chew. In our household, we take a multi-vitamin on a daily basis. The kids ask for them and I have to be careful because they often trick my husband into giving them more than their allotted amount (they think they are treats).
The alternaVites for Kids remind me of the old fashion pixie sticks. They are filled with a very fine crystal powder that literally begins to melt the second it gets on your tongue. Plus if you don’t want to take them directly, they can be mixed into another food product such as yogurt, applesauce or pudding.
For this review, we received a box of bubble gum flavored packs to use. Each pack is individually sealed and represents one daily dose. I have to tell you, after our first “try” of the alternaVites, I wasn’t sure that we were going to be able to give them a positive review. Both of my kids got way too much in their mouths and kind of panicked. There is a lot more in the packet than one would think. So, I decided to put them on the shelf next to their other vitamins until they asked for them. Which I knew they would do.
** The directions clearly state that one should only take SMALL amounts at the front of the tongue, allow the crystals to dissolve, then repeat until the packet is empty. It would have helped for me to read them first – duh.**
So, after a few days of patient waiting, I pulled the alternaVites out in front of my son and he immediately said, “I want to try those again.” I said, “You do? You said you didn’t like them.” To which he immediately replied, “No, I didn’t.” Ha – works every time. This time, knowing that the packets have more than their little mouths can handle, I carefully instructed them to pour a little bit at a time on their tongues.
I also simultaneously filmed them. I want to tell you, I never coach my kids or tell them what to say. I don’t even clean then up, or dress them fancy or anything. I just let them respond naturally to what ever they are trying. Let’s just say I was a little surprised at these overly exuberant videos.
They loved them. They said it themselves. And even though you can tell they both got a little choked up again the end, it didn’t deter them from wanting to use them everyday. Now they are little experts and really have no problem taking them. I have tried a couple of packs too. Honestly, if I ever get pregnant again, these would be perfect. They are sweet, easy to swallow and literaly just melt in your mouth. I am really an awful pill taker, so I found the AlternaVites a perfect alternative.

How cool! Wish we had these kind of vitamins when I was little, we got the chalky kind.
