The newest little girl toy on the market is a fabulous line of miniature dolls and accessories called Pinypons. These little diva’s have exchangeable hair, heads, bodies and legs. Plus they have two faces on each head for a variety of expressions. I promise it’s not creepy. Their hair covers the face that is not showing.
We were sent a HUGE box of Pinypon dolls and the Caravan for our party. Since Lu was already scheduled to have her birthday party with a host of little girls from her class, I decided to make the Pinypon party part of her birthday celebration. The nice thing about this is that I had a group of “moms” that I don’t normally invite to my house gatherings. So I got to tell them all about Mommy Parties and my blog.
After we had cake and ice cream, I had all the girls come in and take a seat at the table. I let each girl pick out a Pinypon doll. I was surprised at how easily the selection went. I had parents helping to free them all from the their packaging. Since I had opened one before the party, I already knew that each doll came with several tiny parts. These dolls would NOT be good for little ones. They are all labeled for 4+ and I want to emphasize the age range.
Once the girls all had their dolls, I gave a little description about how they come apart, their faces, clothes, etc. I then showed them the Caravan. The Caravan was definitely a HUGE hit. I had the girls play in groups of 2 or 3 with the Caravan. Again, there are a zillion little tiny forks, plates, cups, and other tiny pieces. The Caravan opens to reveal a pool/shower, steps and all the supplies necessary for an outdoor picnic. I can imagine that the other Pinypon play sets are just as much fun.
All the girls and parents seemed to really like the sets. Some of the parents got the bright idea to store the little hair bows and accessories inside the dolls head. Brilliant! I am not sure how many pieces we have already lost but no matter how many zip bags I have put those little pieces in, they seem to find their way out.
Regardless, of my apprehension towards the tiny pieces, the kids absolutely love them. I have no doubt that Santa will be bringing other Pinypon products to many of our party participants this year.
