I don’t know about you but I was one of those kids who absolutely loved the “how it is made” segment of Sesame Street or Mr. Rogers when I was little. I clearly remember watching Crayola Crayons come to life and be packed into their yellow boxes in some episode when I was 5 or 6 (maybe younger). Even today I love shows like Unwrapped.
Here in Columbus we have a wonderfully delicious chocolate company called Anthony Thomas Chocolates. Every year they have an Easter Open House, complete with a factory tour, bunnies and samples. Plus it is free, which makes it even better.
The last time we went was in 2011 and Lu was petrified of the large costume rabbits, which made every turn a challenge. However this year was completely different. From bunny number one to the end of the tour we had a wonderful time.
This year they were making solid and hollow chocolate bunnies, chocolate covered strawberries, and the traditional Ohio Buckeyes. Personally I love their English toffee. You could fill my whole basket with that yummy deliciousness.
The kids absolutely loved to see the chocolate twirl in the gigantic bowls and watch the process from start to finish. It really is educational and fun all at the same time.

I love opportunities like this to show my kids how things are made. It just makes for such an enriching experience.
I didn’t write this post for Anthony Thomas but wanted to share their link because they have their regular factory tours year round. If you are in the Central Ohio area, you might want to check it out. It’s bunny free but very educational!
Do you have any fun factories in your area?

So fun! Celestial Seasons is not too far from us. We went a few years ago. It was pretty cool. Coors is also near by. I never went to that one, but I think my husband has.
