I am not typically a trendy person. To be honest, I might even be considered a little late to the party when it comes to new styles. However, when I first started seeing all the posts about Origami Owl, I knew that I had to jump on the bandwagon.
Immediately, I thought they were delightful. I loved how each one is similar yet utterly different. Then when I made the mistake of searching Pinterest for “ideas” I knew I was in trouble. I had immediate visions on my jewelry box being filled with little tiny bags of themed charms. One for my kids, one for my running, one for the beach, one for Christmas, faith, spring, hobbies…You get the picture right? The best part is once you invest in the locket and necklace, the charms are very affordable at $5.00 each.
For this review, my friend (and consultant) Melonie let me choose a locket, chain and some charms. I hadn’t had the opportunity to see the lockets live so I made all of my choices based on internet pictures. I chose the large silver locket with the Silver Ball Station Chain. I wanted to go with a “theme” so I leaned towards a “beach” idea. I chose the plumeria, palm tree, ichthys fish (it’s a little faith and beach) and the large orange crystal stone (to represent the sun).
My locket came in this super cute little Oriental “take out” box, neatly tucked into this fun little red jewelry box.
Here are the things I love and a few changes I would like to make:
- I love the weight of the locket. It is very heavy and the magnet that keeps it closed and seems to be 4 year old proof.
- The charms are super cute. They are much smaller than I anticipated which gives me a reason to buy some more. I definitely want more color in mine.
- I love the “believe” plate. It spins around a bit bit completely sets the tone for the necklace.
- The necklace is very nice but I want to get one of the larger chains for the large locket. I like the ones that have the little ovals so I can add the dangles to it. Of course, this means, I might just have to get a smaller locket and fill it with more charms.

I really love the cross that is on the outside of the locket on the front page of her site. This is the first time I have seen this one and I’m thinking I would probably want to add this to my locket. 🙂
