The baby is a month old now and I have been kind of using a variety of “bags” as a diaper bag for when we head out of the house. The problem with this is that I have also left the house without some of the necessities. Like wipes, a blanket or a nursing cover. I dug out my daughters very old and well used Vera Bradley bag but it is rather bulky and I remember all the reasons that I didn’t like carrying it before. I have been on Pinterest, cloth diaper boards as well as Etsy. I even Googled “Diaper Bag Dilemma” and found that there are 219,000 hits on the topic so apparently I am not the only one that struggles with this.
I have decided that the two most important things that I want are a light weight neutral fabric and stroller bar handle clips. I am absolutely not into leather or fancy schmancy styles. It also needs to be cloth diaper friendly yet not so enormous that I look like I am going away for the weekend.
Here is what needs to be in my diaper bag:
- 3-4 Cloth Diapers
- Wipes
- Changing Pad
- 1 Medium Wet Bag
- 1 Aden & Anais blanket
- 1-2 Changes of Clothes
- 1-2 Pacifiers
- Breastfeeding Cover
- Wallet, Keys, Cell Phone,
- Misc items
Here are some of the bags I have been looking at:
*This is a local company and I often crush over their great wet bags, purses and accessories. One of the things I really like about Varu bags is that you can get matching accessories like a wallet or wet bag.
Next up:
I actually hadn’t heard of this bag until another blogger posted it for a giveaway. I love that is is super slender. Has handlebar straps and that the blue color is a great match for my BOB Motion stroller. (What can I say, I like to match)
Can’t ignore the ever popular Skip Hop:
A true classic. The Skip Hop is really a very versatile bag. I love the color options. There are plenty of pockets. It includes their wonderful patented stroller bar clips. Plus it is very reasonably priced and includes a changing pad.
There are so many other great bags including the entire Ju Ju Be line, JJ Cole’s great selection, Carters, LL Bean etc. There are also some really great bad designers on Etsy. I love almost everything by Brook Van Gory and Bag Envy. I especially like her cute little pacifier holders.
Now can you see my dilemma? I just can’t choose. I hate to invest in one and then not really like it.
What kind of diaper bag do you use? What features do you love?

I think I’ve been through 3 or 4 diaper bags now. It is tough to find the perfect one. I think Skip Hop was one of my favorites (so far). 🙂

I am leaning towards the Baby Cargo… I have some Swagbucks coming my way.

Diaper bags are tricky! I like my Brooke Van Gory, but it is huge. I would consider a Maxwell Designs Stow-it-All, if I were you as a short trip kind of bag. It’s a clutch meant to clip to your stroller and to hold cloth diapers.

I use a big Fisher-Price bag that can fit 10 AIOs if I don’t zip it for most outings, but if I need a smaller bag, I have a PlanetWise/MySwimBaby backpack with a built in wetbag.
