After 19 straight days of rain, a slightly boring summer due to the new baby and limited play dates, we have definitely have had our share of disappointing days. I have had a grumpy Lulu on my hands several times because I had to take care of the baby and I wasn’t available to take a walk, play a game or go to the pool. That is why the book The Blessings Jar by Colleen Coble was perfect for this “season” of her life.
The first time we read the book, she didn’t quite understand what types of things were blessings. After a little discussion, she and I were able to come up with our own virtual blessing jar.
These are some of the things she would put in her jar:
- Bun Bun (her stuffed bunny)
- Rollie Polies (but not for too long because they will die)
- Baby Ezzie BB
- All the animals
- Flowers
- Sprinkles (candy ones, they can be put on everything)
- Her Bike
This oversized board book is perfect for helping your little one to notice God’s work in both the big and little things and teaching them about how important it is to practice thankfulness.
