A few months ago, I came across the sign ups for Mug Swap 2013 hosted by A Cuppa Kim. I was super excited about this because I had missed the deadline last year and really really really wanted to participate. [insert squeaky voice] I love tiny surprises and Mug Swapping is the perfect combination of having a mini birthday and Christmas on the same day.
The anticipation was a killer and even though my mail box is often filled with packages for review, I was like a kid checking it every day in hopes that my mug would arrive. It also didn’t help that I stalked Instagram and Twitter for any possible signs and wonders of mug swapping. Seeing everyone’s adorable photos, packages and little goodies was so much fun!
Trying to pick a mug for my Mug Swap friend was torture. I looked in stores, looked on Pinterest, looked on Cafe Press and Amazon and then Etsy. Etsy is like the mug swap dreamland. After much searching I finally decided on a beautiful mug from KP Mugs. There was something about her Cherry Blossom mug that reminded me of a beautiful sunrise and I was so hoping my Mug Swap secret pal, Sarah from Will Run for Pasta would just love it! (she did and she posted some fun pics on Instagram and her blog. Check her out. She has a dog and a running habit – both of which I am a big fan.)
So sending out a mug was super fun BUT not as fun as getting mine own.
My beautiful mug arrived in brown wrapped box with my name and address neatly decorated on the front. Inside was a cute white box wrapped with string. Did I mention how creative my mug swap friend was? Neatly tucked in was a beautiful mug with a gorgeous flower pattern on it. Unfortunately, my mug’s handle was broken off but it still looks fantastic on my shelf with the handle turned the back.
My Mug Swap 2013 friend was Melissa from www.melisssacamarawilkins.com ! Thank you Melissa for making mug swapping a spectacular experience! You did an amazing job and I am so very grateful.

As a momma that lives off of coffee, I can’t help but to love various kinds of mugs (the bigger the better!) This is an awesome idea, though the ideas of what a delivery driver might do to my awesome mug before I get it can be frightening.

What a fun idea! I never would have even thought to do a mug swap, but now I’m going to have to do one with ladies from church.

What a great idea! I might have to steal it. Who says mug swaps just have to be online! Maybe a work one!

I can really relate to this idea because I do something else with mugs each year in May. My husband has a birthday on the 15th and since we live abroad (namely on a Thai island) I ask friends and family to hold a mug in their hands and take a picture of themselves. It brings a smile each year!

Oh no, I’m so sorry the handle broke! 🙁 It does look like a cool little bowl there on the shelf. What a good idea!
Those KP mugs are gorgeous! Etsy seems to have an infinite capacity for fabulous pottery. I could spend a whole morning just clicking and clicking…

Its no problem! You had it super wrapped so it was just an accident. Funny thing about KP Mugs, I assumed it was a woman. It’s a guy 🙂 LOL
