For the past 2 years, I have facilitated a women’s Bible study on Wednesday nights. This quarter we are reading Francis Chan’s Crazy Love. We are currently in week 5 and honestly it is probably the most challenging book I have ever read. Not only is it challenging me on a personal level but it is also challenging me to rethink how I am teaching my children to be crazy in love with Jesus.
So you are probably asking yourself, “what does this have to do with the review?”
With the new baby, we have definitely been slacking on daily devotionals and regular prayer routines. I am usually flustered and trying to toss the kids into the bed while little one fusses because it is time to eat (again.)
Except, that is a really lousy excuse for not taking time to make sure that my kids are in the Word.
That is why I chose the God and Me Devotional by Penny Boshoff to review for this month. This is a brightly colored book with beautiful pictures of children, animals and objects. There are 365 daily devotions that include a short reading, prayer and a follow up verse. Daily devotions cover important topics like feelings (disappointment, happiness, anger), science (stars, rainbows, behavior (listening, sharing), holidays, events and many more.
Lu and I have have been reading the devotions in the evenings. Each devotion takes 5 to 10 minutes and is a great way to plant seeds of faith into her little heart. Plus the topics often lend themselves to deeper discussions. It is these deeper discussions that I enjoy so much. The time we are spending in the devotional is really giving us a chance to connect and to focus on learning about God’s crazy love for us.
God and Me by Penny Boshoff is a hardcover book and retails for $19.99. You can purchase this book HERE. Its perfect for ages 4-7.

I don’t know how you do it. I’m so exhausted in the evenings too! If you can – I can! 🙂

My child is too young to tell me she’s seen God or heard him…but that does not stop us from reading the stories to her! She knows she is supposed to pray over her food before she eats and knows when she is in church but she still isnt talking yet. But I would love this devotional to add to our reading material!!
