Loving our Avie Love Shorts

July 7, 2014 By Melanie

I am not one to spend money on clothes or new baby stuff. Realistically, the little one will wear something for 2-3 months and then move on to the next size. Considering he is my last, investing in a whole bunch of custom diapers and clothes isn’t really something that is a necessity.

However, I was introduced to Avie Love on FB through some of my other fellow Cloth Diaper bloggers. She has amazing fabrics and some great patterns. I love to window shop on her page. Her diapers are gorgeous. You can tell she really loves creating cloth diaper friendly clothes and accessories.

The other day she had a $15 special on shorts and some fantastic fabric options that I just couldn’t resist. I ordered two pairs of shorts for the little man. A pair of custom Shipwreck Mickey (#disneyside) and another in a beautiful blue ocean theme.

They are beautiful! I kind of wish I would have asked her to add a little size to the waist. I got the 6mo to 3T but they are a little tight in the belly. Here’s to hoping he might thin out and we will get some extended use out of them. I guess I make chubby long babies.

Thank you, it’s helpful to know that cloth-diaper-friendly shorts exist!

Adorable shorts. I understand chubby baby syndrome. I’ve purchased or received so many items that never fit on my chubby baby. Many items just don’t fit cloth diaper babies either.

These are gorgeous! The babies in our family have a love for Mickey and Minnie that is borderline obsessive! As I write this my two year old is looking for her Minnie Mouse Choo-Choo train. They would go bonkers for this print!

Cute! It can be hard to find clothes that fit well over cloth, depending on what diapers I am using. I have found my flats/covers are trim enough to fit clothes over almost as well as a disposable. These little shorts are so sweet and I would love some for my toddler as I like her to wear shorts under her dresses when we are out of the house because I want her to feel like she can play and no constantly be worried about showing her diaper (or hopefully soon, underwear).

Adorable! I do love custom stuff, but normally am just not willing to spend the money on it. I have a 3 year old son and a 1 year old daughter (and 18 and 16 year old daughters). These are my last so it just seems like a waste of money I suppose.

I love that Mickey Mouse print! My little one is the last baby too and I can relate to the need to be practical and not buy all the cute stuff out there!

I must have missed a memo- I didn’t know cloth diaper friendly clothing existed! I’ve thought it would be a good idea and wanted some shorts and pants like those but never knew they were out there…

Those are adorable! We just started cloth diapering and I hadn’t even considered cloth diaper friendly clothes. Although, we have a girl so she wears dresses and leggings.

I will check these out. I used disposables with my first child and started with cloth on baby number two a few months ago. I am noticing that cloth is bulky and special pants sounds like a great ideas. Thanks for sharing!

I bought the Monster Bunz pattern and have made a couple pairs of pants like this. Not expertly, mind you, but I’m getting better! I should make my little guy a pair of shorts. I don’t have Shipwreck Mickey fabric, though! I wish I did.. I LOVE it!!

There need to be more cloth diaper-friendly clothes! We had such a hard time finding things that fit over the diapers with our first son. Hopefully we will be able to afford some when our next baby comes.
