When you are a family of five, staying in a hotel, eating out 3 meals a day and sleeping in one room just doesn’t cut it for an entire week. There isn’t enough space and you start to feel like you are on top of each other 24/7. That is why we always prefer to rent a condo or vacation home for our summer vacation.
Since St. Augustine has the most gorgeous beaches and plenty of real estate to choose from, I knew that we wanted to stay right on the beach. Our friends have have a beautiful beach front home (as in, I can stand on my balcony see the ocean) that until this past spring they lived in full time and now are using it as a rental property.
The property is located in Quail Hallow which is on the south end of St. Augustine beach. This is a mixed community in that there are many full time residents mixed in among the weekly or long term rentals. There are 1, 2, and 3 bedroom homes. The unit we stayed in was a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom on the second floor.
Now, Patty & Robert have a beautifully upgraded unit. The kitchen is remodeled with all updated appliances. There are wood floors in the main living spaces. The master bathroom has a gorgeous walk in shower and when you leave the bathroom door open you can see straight out to the sea. (don’t worry, unless someone is using binoculars, they can’t see you.).
There are two generously sized bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and then there are two twin beds in the second room. We were able to put the provided pack and play right next to our bed in the master bedroom and there was still plenty of space. There is also a pull out couch but we didn’t use it. Both the living room and the master bedroom have walk out balconies.
Since we are accustomed to rental homes, we are used to being provided the very bare minimum. One (or 2) trash bags, no soaps, no extra cooking supplies or laundry detergent. This Quail Hallow unit really raised the bar in rentals because they provide all of that and more! There were so many extra’s that I really felt like I was at home.
Beach Towels, check.
Boogie Boards and a small beach umbrella, Check,
Board games for the kids, Check.
They even have a telescope for star viewing set up in the bedroom. And if you do happen to be missing something, you are just a short drive to several drug and grocery stores.
One of the little touches that I really appreciated was the abundance of automatic lights in every room in closet. Open the hall closet to get a towel, voila, a light pops on. Kids bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, all have extra lighting in the evening. It is the little touches like this that make that really put this unit ahead of others.
Patty has also provided 2 filled binders full of information. One for the condo itself and the other for St. Augustine and the surrounding areas. It was so nice on our first night to just be able to open the book and find a local pizza delivery. There are also some coupons provided for their favorite places
This particular unit in Quail Hallow is the perfect location for your summer vacation in St. Augustine. Truly is a home away from home and you can expect that everything is just as nice (or maybe even a little nicer) than actual home.
