Praise! Disney on Ice – Worlds of Fantasy!

February 19, 2015 By Melanie

I received something of value from Feld Entertainment as part of their Insider Program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

It was a bitterly cold last night. Like so cold I thought that Elsa had moved to Ohio and had reverted back to her angry self. Nevertheless, my husband and I surprised the kids with a week night family outing to see Disney on Ice’s Worlds of Fantasy. I was actually surprised that the arena was as full as it was because of how bad the weather was supposed to be that evening. We are talking negative digits.

However, once we were snug in our fantastic seats (that were provided by Disney on Ice Insiders), the Disney magic took over and we were warmed up with a little sprinkle of pixie dust. Even the baby was thrilled to be at the show.

Disney on Ice’s, Worlds of Fantasy highlights four of the most popular Disney movies; Cars, Tinkerbell, Toy Story 3 and the Little Mermaid. Of course there were also special appearances by Mickey, Minnie and the rest of the gang.

Worlds of Fantasy is very unique in that there seems to be a lot more dialogue and story telling than with other Disney on Ice features. The Cars features included mini versions of the life size characters. I have to be honest, I think I spent more time trying to figure out if Lightening McQueen and his buddies were being humanly maneuvered or if they were like giant remote control cars. Either way it was really cool to see them slip sliding around on the ice. McQueen may think he is the star but Mater will always be my favorite.

Of course Lu’s favorite was a probably a toss up between The Little Mermaid and Tinkerbell. She has both of the movies memorized and loved every bit of the ice dancing. My biggest laugh came from her after Ariel kissed the Prince. She turned to me and said, “Mom, I didn’t look.” Haha. At six, she finds kissing gross.

The baby was mesmerized by the whole event. He has been using his hearing aids more often and he really enjoys music. He was clapping and shaking his head to the beat. Then when the actors would leave the stage he would wave BYE and blow kisses. He also loved all the flying people and this show has 1-2 in every scene.

I was a tad worried about my oldest. I thought he would huff and puff about being too old for Disney on Ice but boy was I ever wrong. He laughed and clapped at every the entire show. Cars and Toy Story have always been 2 of his favorite movies.

I will say that out of all the characters Lots-o-Huggin and Hamm were by far my favorite. I would kill for a 1:1 photo with either of them. How they all manage to maneuver around in those crazy costumes on the ice is beyond me.

All in all it was a fantastic evening! Full of memories and fun for our entire family. If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend in Columbus, look no further than Disney on Ice: Worlds of Fantasy at Nationwide Arena.

This looks like so much fun I can’t wait till my little one is old enough to enjoy these kinds of outings.
