Praise & Giveaway: Whatever Wanda

WhateverWanda

Rubber Ducky your the one. You make bath time lots of fun.

Who doesn’t immediately start singing that song when they see a cute little rubber duck? I did as soon as I saw the adorable art work in this new book from Shine Bright Kids. Whatever Wanda is the third book in this wonderful series by Christy Ziglar. Each book examines a different attitude or choice in the characters lives through a series of different choices that they have to make.

My daughter immediately noticed two things about Whatever Wanda. The first one is that Willow from Ziglar’s first book is one of Wanda’s friends in this book and she is still making good choices. Second that the little “emotion” stars are once again “happy and sad.” The stars do an amazing job helping Lu focus in on the story line.

In the story, Wanda is a little girl with a rather stinky attitude. She doesn’t want to participate in any of the “fun” times at the annual Duck Day Festival. Every time someone asks her to join in or participate she rolls her eyes and says “whatever.” Lu always gets in trouble for rolling her eyes at me and I this was a great way to talk about how her behavior can be very disrespectful.

Just like the other Shine Bright Kids books, there is Parents suggestions page and a website where you can access other materials.

Whatever Wanda is a fantastic children’s story written by Christy Ziglar and illustrated by Paige Billin-Frye. Filled with characters struggling to make the right choices, the Shine Bright Kids series is more than just something you read with your child. It is an opportunity to discuss and connect with them over the choices that they have to make everyday.

I will definitely be using books to help my daughter with values and character traits. And I have a couple books that do that already. She is still a little young to understand. Thanks for the giveaway.
