Disclaimer: Mabel’s Label’s provided me with two sets of emergency contact bands for our recent trip to Disney.
Nothing strikes fear in a mother’s heart more than the idea of losing your child. Especially if your child has a life threatening food allergy or disability. One of the first concerns I had when planning our trip to Disney was to make sure that Ezra and Lulu had some type of an emergency contact bracelet or band.
Obviously being Deaf and a toddler, Ez is not capable of telling anyone is emergency information so making sure he was covered was the highest priority. However, I was also worried about Lu. She has a tendency to panic and cry frantically. I was 100% certain that no matter how much I drilled her on her name, resort and my phone number, that in a panic she would forget everything and be a blubbering mess. So instead of making her remember those details we talked about safety and what she should do in case she was lost. I explained about Disney Cast Members, how they all wear a particular name tag and taught her to look for that name tag. I also told her that she should look for a mom with little children and a stroller if she couldn’t find a Cast Member.
After a little bit of research, I reached out to Mabel’s Labels and asked if they would be interested in having me review their Kid’s Safety Labels. They generously offered me two sets. One for Ez that would identify him as being Deaf and a general one for the older children.
Here is a description from their website:
These durable kids ID bracelets are perfect for theme parks and field trips. Personalize your disposable ID bracelets with vital information and contact details to help lessen the panic of being separated in a crowd. For added privacy, custom ID bracelets may be attached around belt loops or under socks. Dimensions: 197mm x 15mm (7 3/4″ x 19/32″)
Each ID bracelet can be personalized on up to 3 lines and there are five styles to choose from. We went with the pirates and circles. I wasn’t exactly sure how I wanted them to read so I consulted with Sandra, who helped me choose the perfect wording. The printing and shipping took no time at all and they were in my hot little hands in just a few days.
Our Review:
I loved them! Really! They were absolutely perfect and I couldn’t believe how long they lasted. Since Chris was taking the kids to Animal Kingdom ALONE on our first day there, I made sure the kids had their bracelets on before I left for the day. Both of the kids went swimming, played, sweated and were bathed without any significant wear or tear to the bracelets. I took them off before bed that night but decided the next day to leave them on to see how much use we could realistically get out of them.
Lu had hers on her wrist and picked on it a bit. It was a little loose and got in the way of her Magic Band so she peeled it off every night. If she had belt loops, I think that would have been a better choice for her or through her shoe laces.
Ez had his on his ankle and it lasted THREE DAYS before there were hints of fading on the printed information. Three days of sweat, swim, sunscreen, pool water, baths, soap and play. For me that is a total win-win. Plus the bracelet seemed to get more hard has the days went on. It definitely was not at risk of ripping or tearing. I even caught Ez trying to pull it off a few times, unsuccessfully.
I also want to add that even though Eph is 10 and is capable of memorizing all of the pertinent information, when given the option, he chose to attach one of the bracelets to his lanyard. He said he felt “more comfortable” with having that information on him.
If you are traveling, happen to have a “runner” or just want to make sure your kids are extra safe this summer while vacationing or on local adventures, I highly recommend the Kids Safety Labels from Mabel’s Labels. A package of Safety bracelets costs $21.00 and contains 30 personalized bracelets.

This is a fantastic idea. My oldest daughter has a peanut allergy, and I’m always worried about her when we’re not around. She’s headed to Vacation Bible School tomorrow morning, and even though it’s happening at my neighbor’s home and I trust them, I still worry that another well-meaning parent will forget about the “no peanuts” snack rule. I’ll have to remember these for the future!

Wow! These are awesome. Definitely a must have for a family vacation. It only takes a moment and these can definitely impact the outcome if a child does get seperated. Thank you for your review!

This is an amazing idea! These would work great with not only providing information on children in case they get lost, but these would also make great bottle/sippy cup labels for daycare!

These are a great idea. We used to come up with “meeting places” when I was a kid, but I don’t suppose it would work through the toddler ages.
