There are “races” and there are “runs” and The Color Run is definitely the latter. I am not usually a fan of fad runs but when I heard the Color Run was coming to Columbus, I knew I wanted to participate. All those bright colors and happy looking people. It just screamed RUN HAPPY!!
Our team was the Bright & Beautiful. We didn’t do fancy printed shirts but we all wore colorful shorts, white shirts (those are required) and these funky fun knee high socks.
Here we are pre-race, all sparkly clean:
The race start was super crowded. There were 12,000 people and all you could see was a sea of white. It took almost 40 minutes for our “wave” to get started.
We weren’t very far down the street when we hit our first color station. The website said to just run straight through and try not to cause and bottleneck but it was virtually impossible. People were literally standing still, waiting to be “sprayed.” We even saw people just dropping to the ground and rolling in it.
Since we were trying to run for “time,” we just played through the crowd and hoped for the best. The rest of the color stations were about the same. Except that by the time we made it to the last station, they were out of color. Sadly, it was orange, which is my favorite color.
By the end we were surely covered in color! It was a fun race and great to do with friends.
