Dear McDonalds Employee – #Cinchspiration

July 26, 2012 By Melanie

Dear McDonalds Employee:

It has been two months since I saw you last. Since your voice came over that speaker asking me how you could help me. Two months since those sugary words came out of my mouth, “sweet tea please” and you replied by typing in “sweet tea, lite ice” without me even asking.

Occasionally, when I would make it to your window you would make a little joke or comment about the weather or my order. I always wondered what you thought about my daily trips to acquire my golden liquid.

One day, I started work a little later than normal and as I was handing you my $1.07 you made a joke about me being late. It didn’t creep me out a bit that after 2 years of interactions that you had memorized my schedule. Isn’t that just good customer service? Or how about that day that I ordered the Mocha Frappacino and when I got to the window, you commented about me having a late night. Yes, yes, our relationship was special. I doubt I will ever have another like it.

After all that time, all our commitments to each other, I just vanished. You probably think I lost my job or maybe something even worse, that I am cheating on you with the Sonic Employee across the street.

Fear not, my friend. I am here. Very much alive. Unfortunately my daily dose of sweet nectar was taking a toll on my waistline. I realized I could no longer afford the astonishing 280 calories per day that I craved so much. I had to make a choice and I chose water.

It pains me to drive by your little window every day without stopping. I have thought about driving through just to say “hi.”  I want to let you know that I have not forgotten you, but alas, my will power is not that strong. I had to cut you out cold turkey. I do hope you can understand.
Maybe, just maybe, one day, I will succumb to the pressure and drive through to see you again. Until then, I hope that you will forgive my sudden departure.
Missing You Daily,
Melanie
