When I signed up for the Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance campaign, I was already familiar with their products. My old beloved cat, Bukowsky, who has since gone onto kitty heaven, was on the special Science Diet formula for cats with kidney problems. Just the simple switch to their cat food extended his life for about 6 months. Needless to say, I am a true believer of quality pet food.
For this review I was sent a bag of the Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance Grain Free cat food. This is not a brand we are currently using and with any type of pet food, it is wise to slowly mix the food together as not to cause any digestive issues.
From their website:
Ideal Balance™ is a combination of natural ingredients and the power of advanced nutrition to create a pet food that is perfectly balanced. For adult cats, Ideal Balance™ Grain Free has fresh chicken as the 1st ingredient with fruits and vegetables including cranberries, limited animal protein sources to help minimize risk of food sensitivity, and No corn, wheat, soy, dairy, beef, artificial colors or flavors.
Bela is not a particularly picky feline. She is free fed and we fill her bowl up when she demands it, which she does by a consist meow meow while walking around her bowl. She does however have a sensitive belly, so making slow transitions is important.
Her first bowl was half her regular food and half the Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance. When I cut open the bag, she started purring and rubbing herself all over it. I could barely get the scoop down to bring some up for her because she practically had her head in the bag. Bela quickly caught on to the mixed bowl concept and after about two bites, I could tell she was picking out the Ideal Balance and pushing away her regular food. She seemed to really like the Science Diet Ideal Balance Grain Free and we have not had any adverse reactions to it.
Over all, I am very pleased with the Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance Grain Free Cat food. Want to know what is in your pet food? Use the Hill’s pet food comparison tool to help you see the extra benefits of switching. You can also follow them on Facebook.

I think I’ve seen this brand before in stores and would like to try it out. My cat is definitely picky but more so for the high quality food.
