When I first moved to Central Ohio, I lived just north of downtown. It was the perfect transition from Washington, DC where I had been able to walk, ride a bike or grab the metro anytime I wanted. It is such a treat to be able to just stroll down the street to catch a movie.
Studio Movie Grill is located in the old Arena Grand theater, right across from Nationwide Arena. You can park for free in their attached garage but you need to be sure to bring your ticket in for validation.
I hadn’t been to the Studio Movie grill in over 10 years. I was surprised to see that it had been upgraded and was still in really nice condition. Let’s be honest, often times older movie theaters start to get run down and really sticky.
Studio Movie Grill has 12 theaters and shows all the first run movies. It is all reserved seating so you will want to make sure you either order your tickets online or arrive early enough to select your favorite seats. The chairs are large and comfy with each seat having a moveable tray so you can order up all their gourmet food.
I was able to escape the kids and the heat last Monday for Girls Night Out. I had been given enough passes for myself and a few of our friends so we went to see The Fault in Our Stars. [#uglycry]
The theater was very small and even though the only seats left were in the front, you didn’t feel like you were right up to the screen. In the future, I will always make sure to order my tickets early. You can buy your tickets and choose your seats online.
Once inside there is no need to stop at the concession stand because there is a full wait staff to serve you in the theater. From Starts to Salads, Entrees to Dessert, there is something for everyone. They also offer a full bar, kids menu and your typical movie fare like candy and popcorn.
Since we had already eaten dinner, I ordered their delicious looking ice cream sundae. There was one waitress to our entire theater so it did take a little while for it to arrive however, the wait was worth it. I definitely need go back again and try some of their other full menu options.
Over all we had a great experience and I highly recommend checking out Studio Movie Grill the next time you are looking for a unique way to see a movie.
Some tips:
- Order your tickets online for the best available seating
- Arrive early to place your food order so you are not whispering over the movie.
- Be prepared for the lights to remain on slightly brighter than traditional theaters for the safety of the servers.
- Try not to let the constant flow of service disrupt your movie.
