I am a regular Kroger shopper. I find that their store brand products are exceptional and you can not beat the prices. One of their store brands is Private Selections. There are a variety of Private Selections foods but this review focused on their new frozen food lines.
I was sent several coupons to use to purchase the Private Selections artisan pizza, appetizers and dessert. I thought this would make a fun easy meal for my family.
There is a nice variety of Private selection frozen foods to choose from. For the review, we tried the Three appetizer pack, the BBQ Chicken Pizza & Roasted Vegetable Pizza and the Chocolate Lava cakes.
The appetizer sampler tasted good. I really liked the spanakopita. It is always one of my favorite appetizers. I was disappointed that there were only 9 pieces in the box. The store prize was $4.99 and I don’t think that you got your money’s worth. I would not buy multiple boxes for a party or get together.
The artisian pizza was good. The BBQ chicken was a bit spicer than we expected and the kids did not like it. The Roasted Vegetable was excellent. The veggies are fresh and have a lot of flavor. Once again, though, for the price, I was a bit surprised to see the size. I would call this a personal size pizza.
Last we had the chocolate lava cake. I don’t have any pictures because we ate them so quickly. The cakes are made in microwave and cook up fast. You can watch the center rise and then the chocolate sauce come out. I was surprised how much I liked them. The cakes were definitely fluffy and rich.
Overall I think that the Private Selection frozen foods have excellent flavor and are made from quality ingredients. You can purchase these items and more at your local Kroger store.
