All the great motivational speakers will tell you that setting goals (and sticking with them) is one of the most important characteristics for success. Stephen Covey wrote an entire book on the importance of setting goals and living them out. He is famous for saying, “Begin with the end in mind.”
With that in mind, I wanted to take some time and think out my blogging goals for 2012. Looking back, I wrote my first post in May of 2009 and hosted my first giveaway in August of 2010. In 2011, I wrote 277 posts and hosted a slew of fantastic giveaways. I have made several wonderful blogging friends and participated so great giveaway hops and events. I am amazed at the opportunities that blogging has brought and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.
Blog Goals for 2012:
- Work on developing a more faithful readership.
- I am so thankful for honest, valuable comments on my non-giveaway posts. I would like to deepen those relationships and build a more consistent following.
- Take Time for a make-over.
- I would like to switch to a self hosted blog and have a blog make-over. (May)
- Create a schedule of posts and topics.
- I tend to write whatever is on my mind that day. I would like to start thinking more about my posts and preparing them in advance.
- Build my local blog followings, increase opportunities as well as my local media contacts.
- I would like to work on building a local following and host giveaways for my area (central Ohio).
- Leverage Social Media more effectively.
- I am an avid Facebook user but struggle with how to use it effectively with my blog. I also need to learn to use many of the scheduling tools for Twitter, Google+, etc.
- Attend a Blog Conference.
- Increase the number and quality of giveaways that I host.
- Learn to say no to companies that don’t necessarily match my theme.
- Learn more about blog design, graphics and html.
- Start a FB group for Faith based R&G bloggers to support and promote each other.
- Develop an opportunity that “gives back” by offering posts/advertising for non-profit groups and businesses.
Whew, that seems like a lot of accomplish in one year, but I hope that I will be able to do it. Thanks for coming along for the journey!

Great blogging goals. I’m a newer blogger, not even a year old yet. I love learning from more experienced bloggers like you. Just wanted to say thank you!
