I have always loved the idea of reusing or imagining my wedding gown turned into something that would stay in our family. I loved my wedding dress. I chose it because it reminded me of the beautiful styles of Jacqueline Kennedy. Her signature dresses all had simple waist bows and lovely clean lines.
When we had our first son, I considered having my wedding gown made into a christening gown or outfit but couldn’t find someone I trusted. I have also seen where dresses are donated or sold to raise money for cancer. None of those plans ever really seemed right. Maybe I did have some tiny dream that one day my daughter would consider wearing my dress.
Lu absolutely loves dressing up, so when I saw that my friend Holli was going to be offering Bridal Mini Me Sessions, I was so excited. I signed Lu up immediately and dragged my wedding dress out of the garage.
The photo session was held outside an old fashioned brick church. They used clips to secure the dress but it was still obviously to big. However, I wanted Lu to look like she was playing dress up in my gown and not like she was an real bride. She also wore my mother’s pearls, just as I had done for my own wedding. It was bitter-sweet to put them on her and brought back many memories of my mother doing the same to me on my wedding day.
Lu looked so lovely in my dress. It was huge on her and she kept tugging at it. Not to mention I am 100% sure it weighs as much as she does. I also brought the silk version of my wedding flowers, so she is using my real bouquet in the photos.
It is so hard to choose my favorites to share. I love the one above where she is almost laughing.
And this one where she is looks so pensive and sweet.
Our Bridal Mini Me Session was such a fun and memorable experience. I know I will cherish these photos for years to come.

I never thought of any of those ideas, I just sold my wedding dress since we were limited on space and it makes me sad to think about that. It was very pretty though with lace throughout the whole thing and sequins too, all ball gown which isn’t my thing but it was definitely thee dress.
