Last school year I asked if it would be possible for me to review the Rock ‘N Learn Phonics Volume 1 DVD after finding out that my son was struggling to learn his letter sounds. I really encourage to read that post, so that you can learn a little more about the situation with Eph and see his improvement as reported by his instructor.

After using the Phonics V.1 DVD, I was given the chance to review the Phonics V.2  and their brand new DVD entitled Sight Words.  With the success and improvement I saw with the first DVD, I had no doubt that this video would provide similar results and I was correct.  Eph is required to learn 50 sight words in each quarter of the school year and this DVD has many of his required words.

What is so great? Even though it doesn’t have all 200 of his words, it gives him a boost on those words that he needs to learn early in the year. And it presents these words in a high energy  Here is a list of all the sight words practiced on the DVD.

All of these words are regularly seen in the early or level one readers that Eph brings home in his reading baggie every night. Since he was able to learn them so easily and then apply them to his actual reading, he feels more success when practicing reading with me.

I just love this video because it is such a true representation of how learning takes place in his mind & body.  It is a full body approach.  The dancing and bouncing to the rhythm while casually spitting out the words is his learning style and it is the number one reason why I feel we have so much success with the Rock N Learn DVD’s.
