While we were on vacation, the kids wanted to go to the Petting Farm. We headed out early morning, on what we thought was going to be an overcast and cool day. It turned out to be quiet warm and we had wished we brought water and sunscreen.
The petting farm is located just up the hill from where we were staying and although it is on the resort property we found out that it was privately leased. I personally thought it was a tad expensive and there was no discount for having an activity card. They charged $5 for each person to enter and $10 for each “pony” ride. When we got back to the tent area, they were charging for bags of feed to give the animals. We didn’t have any cash and the lady felt bad so so she gave the kids each a free bag.
There were a whole variety of farm animals including pigs, goats, sheep a miniature horse, and rabbits. There was one pen that was filled with all a babies including a goat, rabbits and a pig. Eph fell for one of the bunnies.
The biggest excitement of the day was the “pony” rides. Our daughter is completely obsessed with horses as long as they are a at a distance or she is can just barely touch their noses. She will let you bring her close but as soon as the make a noise or do shake their heads she will fuss and ask to be held.
I didn’t think Lu would do it but after we gave her the paci, she jumped on giggling and had a blast. Eph really enjoyed himself too. They took 2 trips around the field which was plenty in the heat.
Overall the petting zoo would get a A++ from the kids but it was a little pricey for a family of 4. I just wish they had offered a discount for the activity cards.
