Every time I read an article about how to “Gain Readership” on my blog there is always an emphasis on Twitter. I want so badly to love Twitter the same way that I love Facebook. I want to make witty @ comments and retweet for my bloggie peeps but as hard as I try, I can’t seem to find the Twitter love.
I get overwhelmed with all 1,000 zillion tweets and find it hard to start up a conversation with a like minded stranger. Back in the day, I had several mom’s I tweeted with who cloth diapered, breastfed and wore their baby. However, now I don’t do those things so those “relationships” have simply faded.
I have joined twitter parties (which I love) but I am rarely able to maintain a connection with the people I interact with after the party. Not to mention that most twitter parties occur right in the middle of bedtime routine. So even if I am attending, it is on my phone or with all the distractions that occur with two kids.
Sometimes Twitter feels a little a whole lot like high school cliques and I am the awkward new kid trying to fit in. All of my typical social skills are non existent in the cyber world. It feels as if I am left tweeting to my imaginary friends in the Land of Honalee. I even read a blog post once that said that she “never follows anyone who tweets a giveaway.” – Oh geeze, that is the reason I am on there.
So what’s a girl to do? I keep trying to convince myself to just get on all day, every day and tweet until I my tweeter is tired but to whom and what about? I sign on to Twitter and in about 27 seconds am already flustered and just make a quick post and leave.
I guess I am writing this like a small confession and to seek the advice of my followers. Do you have any ideas on how to best use twitter so that I enjoy it and it doesn’t feel like a chore? I am open to ALL advice and be sure to leave your twitter handle (I might just strike up a conversation).
Do you have a love-hate relationship with Twitter?

Twitter can be very intimidating! I used to get so lost (and still do during parties). I have found that I like tweeting what I’m doing or links to my blog (Buckeye Blogger) or *new* shop. I try to just scan what other tweeters are posting and just pick and choose what to re-tweet, what to reply to, and in the midst find great giveaways, great blogs, etc. I also have not found any great friendships or anyone that I can tweet back and forth with on a regular basis.
