Caribbean Cove Hotel & Waterpark Review (Indianapolis)

This past weekend the family headed west on 70 to the wonderful town of Indianapolis. Considering it is only three hours away, you would have thought that we would have made the trek before. There are so many wonderful things for families to see and do in Indy that now that we have been, we will have to be going back.

One of the activities my kids love most about traveling is staying in a hotel. It was Eph’s birthday this past weekend and so were were having a mini celebration. When I asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday, he said that he wanted to stay at a hotel with an indoor pool. I couldn’t settle on just any old hotel, I wanted something great that was kid friendly and at the least had a slide.

After a little bit of research, I found that Indy has very large hotel and indoor water park about 10 miles outside of town. The Caribbean Cove Hotel and Waterpark is the perfect facility for a family get-away.

We arrived late (I mean really late) on Friday night. I was surprised to find that there were was a small line of people checking in but the clerk was super cheerful. We had our keys and map to the room in just a few minutes. The lobby was very beautiful and Lu insisted that it just had to be part of Belle’s castle. The hotel has an open atrium style with beautiful iron balconies that over look the pool.

Our room was on the 4th floor of the hotel. The kids ran immediately the balcony. At first I was a little concerned that it might be a bit noisy but once the door was shut, I didn’t hear a peep until morning. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortably made up with fluffy pillows and a comforter. The bathroom was nice and  spacious and I loved the rain maker shower head. Even Lu didn’t hate taking a shower.

Despite the late lights out, the kids were up and raring to go at 7:00am. Luckily, as part of our package, we received tickets to the hotel’s breakfast buffet. (Kids eat free with a paying adult.) The food was great and our server Anthony was wonderfully accommodating. After we filled up on cereal, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, we headed upstairs to our room to get ready for the water park.

The Caribbean Cove Waterpark is attached to the hotel, so we didn’t even have to beat the cold to make our way there. We literally walked in as they unlocked the door. I am certain we were the first 4 people in there. The kids were super excited and immediately headed towards the gigantic pirate ship. The water was warm and the kids took to the park like fish. Lu loved the little blue slide and that she was able to stand in the basketball pool. Eph and Chris played basketball until they were wrinkled, then headed off to the “big” slides. The only minor complaint I have is that the park needs to provide more tubes for the rides and lazy river. Since it was so hard to get a hold of them, Eph only got to go on the yellow slide a few times. Regardless, it didn’t stop us from having a great time. After a few hours, we headed out for some lunch and a visit downtown.

We had hoped to make it back to the hotel in time to hit up the water park again but the kids were pretty worn out when we got back so we skipped the water park in lieu of the arcade. There is a nice arcade on the 3rd floor of the water park. At first we were a bit confused because none of the games were giving tickets, then I realized that the game cards we had bought were actually collecting the “tickets” as we went along. There was a good selection of games for both the kids. 

The park closed at 10:00 and we headed off to our room. I will say that the atrium was a bit louder than the night before but we weren’t really bothered and it seemed to clear out by 11:00, which is the hotel’s quiet time. We got another good nights sleep and hit the indoor pool one more time before we checked out at 11:00am the next day. 

Overall it was a fantastic stay at a really wonderful family friendly hotel and water park. I highly recommend you check it out the next time you are making a trip to Indianapolis. You can find out about specials on their Facebook page and website!
