My bloggy friend Mandi, over at Sweet Tiny Blessings has started a new meme called Throwback Thursdays. Just a day to write a post about something that happened in the past. And well, since it was my little princesses birthday this week, I thought I would share the throwback story of Lulu.
As you might recall, my husband and I have experienced infertility problems since we were first married in 2003. We tried all sorts of different treatments and several failed IUI’s before we finally conceived our daughter. I don’t want to get into over sharing, but let’s just say getting pregnant in the doctors office is not exactly romantic.
We were thrilled to have that positive pregnancy test just 14 days after the “procedure” and thrilled at 18 weeks when we found out our little one was going to be a girl.
After all we had been through, it was a traumatic morning at 28 weeks when I woke up to a pop and a large gush of blood. Convinced that we were losing our baby, we rushed to the hospital. Prayers ensued and by the time we got there, the bleeding had slowed down and the baby’s heartbeat was still excellent.
They determined I had a small placental tear, gave Lu some steroids to develop her lungs, gave me a shot of something to slow the contractions and sent me to OB for “observation.” Two days later, I was released from the hospital on bed rest, with the knowledge that prayers are answered. This little princess was gonna be alright.
I sat around on my butt for the next 11 weeks and gave birth, via Cesarean on November 13th to my beautiful little Lulu. She was so tiny and sweet and I was instantly in love with my daughter.
Now, at age 4, she is full of sass. She is beautiful, she is learning to love the Lord. She has a sensitive heart for others and she makes this world a brighter place. I am so thankful to be her mommy.
So that’s my throwback. Want to share your own? Pop over to Sweet Tiny Blessings and find out more about Throwback Thursdays!

Oh my goodness, Melanie! What a story! I am so glad that everything turned out just fine. Lu is so precious. I don’t think I’ve seen a picture of your husband before, but I think Lu looks so much like you. I hope Lu had a wonderful birthday! And thanks for linking up!
