This past month I was invited to participate in a holiday promotion for the California Wine Club. I have actually purchased a wine club membership for a friend’s birthday before and have always been pleased with the selections that they send monthly. For someone who is not a wine connoisseur, having the “professionals” choose for me is very helpful. Plus having the items just arrive at my home, keeps me from having to go into those trendy little shops where the wine people talk at you and you leave feeling a little less sophisticated.
For this review, the California Wine Club sent me two bottles of Robledo Wine, a white (Sauvignon Blanc) and a red (Tempranillo). I hosted a birthday party for my friend at a local candle shop so I decided that these wines would be a perfect addition to the party.

The white, Sauvignon Blanc, was by far the group favorite. It had a nice aroma and sweet flavors. I typically drink Reisling but found this wine very enjoyable. I love that it has mango in it but can’t say that the flavor stood out to my untrained pallet. Description:

I have never heard of a “Tempranillo” wine so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was a nice dry wine. Perfect for a cool night or to go with a meet or pasta dish. Description:
This wine has a bright ruby color with heavy aromas of cranberry, blackberry, cinnamon, spice and toasted oak. The flavors of dried black fruit, toasted cedar and tobacco mingle with great acidity and strong tannins to produce a long, rich finish.
Overall I was very pleased with my selection of wines from the California Wine Company.
