**I received a pack of cards and stamps from Hallmark to participate in the challenge. All thoughts, ideas and opinions are my own.
When I was about 8 years old, my grandmother challenged me to do something different for Lent. She told me to think of something that would make someone else happy because giving up ice cream and sweet tea didn’t really make Jesus happy. I remember thinking about how much I loved to get mail and decided that for Lent, I was going to send letters and cards out every day for 45 days. I truly believe that was the beginning of my love affair with Hallmark.
Now when I say I have a love affair with Hallmark, I mean, I love myself some Hallmark. So much so that the first job I got after getting my driver’s license was at the Gold Crown store in our local mall. I remember we could buy items on credit and they would take them out of our pay checks at the end of the week. I am certain that there were weeks that I came home with more cards, stationary, and trinkets than I did money.
Needless to say, like most people, I have fallen away from sending old fashion cards and letters. The ease of email and text messages have replaced handfuls of brightly colored envelopes with little stickers on the back. That is why I was so excited to sign up for the Hallmark Get Carded Challenge.
The challenge was to send 7 cards in 7 days to 7 people in my life. In order to make it a little easier, Hallmark sent me a wonderful array of brightly colored cards and stamps from which to choose. Oh, these cards are absolutely delish? It made it really hard to figure out who to send them to.
One of the first people on my list was my husband’s Aunt. Her mother recently passed away and it has been a very difficult time. I knew a brightly colored card would bring a smile to her face. Especially because our GG was notorious for sending out little notes. It is one of the things that I will miss the most about her.
I also have cards ready for an old friend, a friend dealing with some changes in her life, a family member who always remembers to send the perfect card, a person I see every day and someone near and dear to me. I hope that each and every one of them will have their day brightened a bit by this little ray of paper sunshine.

I recently received a “letter” from my father, which is very unusual since he never writes anything. He is getting old and wanted me to know that he loved me, the old fashioned way. It made my day and then some. I will be cherishing that letter with all my heart forever.

When I was 12 years old my family moved to a new town about 3 hours from the first place we called home. I had a friend I knew since I was two years old that became my lifelong penpal. Any letter or card I get from her is so special. I’m 37 years old now and when we were around 32 or so; we had a girls weekend and brought out all the old letters and cards and had a great time reading through the “heavy stuff” and “drama” that we experienced in middle school and high school. I’ll always love cards from her and my family and friends! They are my treasures.

I applied, but got denied. 🙁 Oh well! On to the giveaway. The one card that sticks out to me the most is one from my MIL just about a year before my husband and I were married. My future husband left for Iraq and I was all alone in a state where I hardly knew anyone and I hated who I worked for. I felt so alone (except for my new puppy). My MIL sent a beautiful card along with a CD reminding me of God’s love.
