Want to get addicted? Giveaway Addiction!

About two years ago, I started reading blogs and entering contests for various kid stuff, baby items, natural products and cloth diapers.  The giveaways became kind of an addiction and while I have lost more than I have won, I have won alot of fun goodies from the different blogs that I follow and giveaways that I enter.

Now, I have decided to start my own blog featuring praise reports from my family as well as giveaways.  I have 5 giveaways lined up for the month of August and I can’t wait to get started but I need to increase my foot traffic so companies will be interested in letting me review other items.

I am writing this post, as an introduction to my many mommy friends that a) have no idea what I am talking about or b) might have heard of giveaway blogs but don’t really know what to do.  Here is a quick run down of how contests work and how you can participate.

The first thing that happens is that companies send products to bloggers for them to use and review.  The blogger will write a detailed review of a product including pictures and video. Then if the company has provided a similar product for a giveaway, the blogger will set up a contest using postings.

Most of the contest “entries” are very similar in nature.  There will be a mandatory entry.  An example will be to got to “XYZ company” and tell me your favorite product then post your comment below. Then after the mandatory entries, there will be secondary entries, these are often other types of marketing tools, “like my blog on Facebook,” “subscribe to my blog’s email,” “like XYZ company on Facebook,” ect. 

At the end of each blog entry, you will see a box that says “post comment” – click that and complete your entries. It is quite simple and alot of fun.

Google Friends Account (See my Google Friends to the right)
Twitter Account
Facebook Account

Once the contest is closed most bloggers us random.org to generate a comment number and that is how the winner is chosen.  The winner is usually notified by email and has 48 hours to respond.
