2011 Giving Thanks Challenge – Day 14, My Phone

November 15, 2011 By Melanie

I have loved phones ever since I was a little girl. My dad had an “in home” business, so when I was about 12 and my parents were sick of having to share a phone with me they got me my own line.  Oh what a joyous day that was. I am pretty certain I had a boring old handset phone that looked like this…

I don’t think it was that fancy. The only features it had where call waiting and three way calling. Oh, how I loved that phone. I had a super long coil cord and the another really long phone jack cord on it. That thing could be dragged all the way down the hall into the kitchen.  I could even set it out through the cat door in my bedroom window so I could listen for it to ring outside.

Times have changed! Today I have an amazing little device called an Iphone. Don’t have one? I actually feel a little sorry for you. I am not sure how one survives in this day and age without one.

I love my phone. When you live 1,000 miles from everyone in your family (and most of your friends), you need a good phone and this one can even have live video chat.  Nothing like clicking a button and having your besties face right there.
I know it is just a silly thing to be thankful for, but as I drove to work today, chatting with my mom, telling her all about Lu’s party, I was just happy to have such technology. A technology that instantly brings people together.

I don’t have a phone like yours, but mine has a fair amount of gadgets on it. I know I don’t use it to its full potential, and that it’s capable of much more! It’s me who’s not capable. 🙂
