Yesterday morning when I was leaving Lu at the sitter’s house, we shared a joke about switching jobs and I told her, “not on your life.” Ever since my children were born, I have been a full time mom & and a full time interpreter. I love my job, we need the income and to be honest, I can’t imagine staying at home all day, every day. I have never felt called to stay at home and God has provided me an amazing job with a fabulous flexible schedule.
When I was pregnant with Eph, I couldn’t find any type of situation that I was happy with. As I was getting nervous, a new receptionist was hired at our job. She told me that her niece babysits, was right around the corner and had openings. From the moment I met Toni, I was in love. She has a heart of grace, she (and her husband) love the Lord and she adored Eph for almost 2 years. We still see her at church and on Facebook and I am so thankful for the time, love and prayers that she poured into Eph during those years.
Fast forward…we had a very traumatic and not so wonderful ending with a sitter. I was desperate to find care for my Lu bug and part time for Eph. My friend Jessica stepped up and offered, even though she had a house full and could only do it part time. The kids loved Jessica. She was creative and fun. Cooked fabulous meals, took pictures of the kids and always had kind things to say. She moved away but we keep in touch on FB.
Then last year, worried that I might not find someone. I met another fabulous Christian women in Lu’s special needs preschool. Diana is the mother of twins, just a tad older than Lu. She understood the medical concerns and allergies. She loves the Lord, home schooled and just was fantastic. She was my greatest support in potty training and paci keeping. Lu loved going to her house and playing with “the boys.” She was a fantastic blessing for the year.
And now, we have amazing and wonderful Sara. Sara has a house full of kids. She too is a Christian. She makes menus with foods Lu won’t even touch a home but devours there. She does fun crafts. She has tons of toys and activities and best of all Lu absolutely adores her. She is flexible and sweet and I am very blessed that she opens her home to little Miss Lu everyday.
So today let me give thanks for the fantastic and amazing group of women who have loved and cared for my children over the past few years. I am deeply grateful for each one of you. Thank you for being such a blessing to our family.
